Creativity runs like a golden thread through my life. Sometimes it is broken, but the broken ends always find a way back together, so that the golden thread can keep going. This creativity, my creativity, is very distinctive: it goes from drawing mandalas, making 3D objects with for example iron wires, book objects to painting and drawing. I try to use all sorts of techniques which I acquired in various workshops. However, I improve these techniques by adding my personal style. Thus, I improved myself and new creative expressions were formed. In order to develop these creative expressions, I did a three year apprenticeship program in The Netherlands. This apprenticeship actually made me who I am today: free-acting and open-minded. As a result of being a perfectionist and because this characteristic became really stressful, I went on with the technique of blind contour drawings where the pen or paintbrush stays on the paper or canvas without looking at it. I only focus on the object. The results are unexpected paintings which I experience as very liberating. I use this technique for my works. The inspiration for these paintings is actually in my subconscious mind. My whole life I have been dreaming of houses where the doors and windows cannot be closed and which are abandoned, so that the resident can come back any time. This led to my first dream paintings which are called “Soulrovers”. I am also fascinated with houses where there is more between heaven and earth, for example where the residents still “spook”. Simply the feeling that you are not alone there.... During our tour of Scotland, Wales and Ireland I have been to different houses where the phenomenon mentioned above can be applied to. Sometimes there were actual memories like furniture, clothes and letters laying all over the house like an old, visual history book. These houses told me in silence the story that had happened there. The houses were completely filled with mysteries. Everything in these houses is silent, but this silence tells you what has happened in these walls. You can hear it, although it is not there anymore. I had often the feeling that something was still there. This inspired my series of paintings “Echoes of the Soul”. My works consists of a combination of various techniques which are put together in order to form a painting with its own strong signature and a subtle use of colors. Due to the use of various techniques the final result is always much unexpected. Most of the time I have the feeling that the painting is actually “alive” while making it. It feels like the bereaved soul is still dealing with it... Home Home
