Creativity runs like a red thread through my life, from drawing mandalas, making 3D objects and artist books, drawing, painting, and working with mixed media techniques. By attending various workshops, I have learned many techniques to which I have subsequently given my own interpretation. During my three-year training to become an independent artist, I was able to further develop myself.

The inspiration for my paintings partly comes from my subconscious. Throughout my life, I have dreamed of houses overgrown with ivy, where the doors and windows cannot be locked, and where the houses are abandoned but still furnished so that the occupant can return at any moment.

During our tours through Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, I have been in various houses where the above applied. Sometimes tangible personal memories such as clothing, photos, and letters were spread throughout these houses like a visual history book.

They silently told me the story of the history that took place there; they are surrounded by mystery for me. Often I had the feeling that a soul was still present, that feeling of 'I am not alone here...

By using various techniques and layers in my work, the final result always holds surprises even for me. I often have the feeling that the painting “comes alive” while I am creating it—perhaps the lingering soul is interfering with it…
